Perception is Reality but Appearances can be Deceiving

Now a days everyone has heard the term "Perception is Reality" and grasps a general understanding of it's meaning. For those of you who don't know, in short it refers to the more common phrase "what you see is what you get"

One of the most famous uses of this quote in today's modern media driven society would be the show "Desperate Housewives" where one character quoted the phrase with reference to her alcoholism and stated "If people see me as an alcoholic then I'm an alcoholic"

BUT (and yes I'm writing in caps to emphasise my point) what people don't understand is Perception is Reality..... but appearances can be deceiving.

What does this mean? It means that although you might see someone as something in particular, be it an alcoholic or an a**hole.... it doesn't necessarily mean it's true.

You need to consider all the factors before making an informed decision. Remember the golden rule.... you can't pass judgment on someone until you truly know them.
